Day 1: land in Kigali and transfer to Congo through Gisenyi.
Before the day of the safari begins you are scheduled to fly into Rwanda using Kigali international airport in Kigali city, from the airport you will picked up by our companies safari guide/driver assigned to your safari. The safari guide/ driver will drive you to your hotel as you waiting for the actual day the safari begins that is in the next morning.
On the first day of the safari your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel after morning hearty breakfast, briefly you about the safari and then go on your journey heading to Goma town then Bukima town in Democratic Republic of Congo. From Kigali town it is a drive of 5 hours to Goma town and one hour’s drive from Goma town To Bukima town, on the journey you make a stopover in Goma town for lunch. After lunch you will proceed to Bukima town, reaching Bukima town you will drive to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park.
On the second day of the safari is the most emphasize of the safari with the mountain gorilla trekking expertise, on this day you wake up early in the morning for a hearty breakfast then head to the Virunga national park headquarters for the mountain gorilla trekking experience. The excursion starts with a briefing at the headquarters where you are given the rundown on rules, regulations, and appropriate behaviours when among mountain gorillas. After the briefing, you begin your adventure by trekking into the rough forest slopes of Virunga National Park in search of mountain gorillas. Your guide always knows where the gorillas have spent the previous night.
When you connect the mountain gorillas you are permitted to have only one hour with the mountain gorillas, taking pictures while with the gorillas is allowed as long as you do it with your camera’s flash lights off. After the adventure you go down back to the park’s headquarters pick your gorilla trekking certificates, connect your safari guide and drive back to your lodge, rest, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 3: transfer back to Kigali.
On the third day of the safari comes to an end since it is your final day in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. You will have breakfast in the morning, check out of your lodge and then return to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. After lunch, you can go on a city tour of Kigali, which primarily relies on the time of your departure flight. During the tour, you’ll see sites like the memorial site of the Rwandan genocide and the Kalpak crafts village, where you can purchase gifts. Your incredible safari will come to an end when you are dropped off at your hotel or the airport in time for your flight home after the city tour.
