3 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking Safari : This fascinating safari will take you to western Uganda’s Kibale national park, home to the critically endangered chimpanzee as well as other primates like the grey-cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, and olive baboons. The safari also includes a fascinating nature walk in Bigodi swamp, where you may see a variety of birds, butterflies, primates, and mammals.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale national park.

Upon your arrival at Entebbe airport on the first day of the 3 days chimpanzee trekking safari in Kibale national park you will be welcomed by our representative who will brief you about the safari. From there you will start the journey to Kibale national park which is located in western Uganda. The drive from Kampala to Mubende takes about five to six hours; you’ll stop for lunch in Fort Portal and take in the sights along the way, which include terraced farmlands, tea and banana plantations, views of the crater lakes, and the Rwenzori mountain ranges. When you go to Kibale National Park, and check in you’ll have dinner and stay the night at the lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk.

On the second day of 3 days Kibale chimpanzee trekking safari. Get up early in the morning and take breakfast, meet with your guide and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After the orientation, you will be paired with a park guide who is familiar with the forest routes and a chimpanzee family to observe. Depending on where the chimps spent the night before, a chimpanzee hike in Kibale National Park might last anywhere from 30 minutes to four hours. While out on your trek, keep your eyes peeled for butterflies, birds, plants, primates, and mammals; once you find the chimpanzees, you’ll get to spend an hour with them in their habitat, where you can learn about their daily routines and routines like feeding, playing, hunting, fighting, resting, and more by observing them in person and taking photos and videos without using a flash. You’ll return to the lodge for lunch with your driving guide after your chimpanzee trekking adventure.

After lunch, you’ll take a walk through the Bigodi swamp, where you may spot wildlife such as black and white colobus monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, bushbucks, Sitatungas, and a variety of birds, including the great blue turaco, green breasted pitta, papyrus gonolek, and colourful butterflies. You’ll head back to the lodge after your swamp stroll for some evening relaxation, dinner, and the overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure to Kampala.

On the final morning of your three-day chimpanzee-trekking safari in Kibale National Park, after a leisurely breakfast, you’ll check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for the ride back to Kampala. You will stop for lunch at the Igongo cultural centre where you will enjoy the natural spiced food that is tasty and then continue on to Kampala, where you will arrive in the early evening. Your driver guide will deliver you to Entebbe International Airport in time for your departure, or to any other location specified by you.
