Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. 

On the first day of your 4-days Uganda gorillas and golden monkey trekking safari, to see gorillas and golden monkeys in Uganda, check out of the hotel or your driver/guide will pick you from Entebbe International Airport to begin the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will stop along the way at the Equator to take pictures and buy souvenirs before continuing your journey and making another stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch in Mbarara. After lunch, you’ll head to the park for breathtaking views of the surrounding area, lovely landscapes, the Kigezi Hills, terraced farmlands, and more. Upon your arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and the night when you get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

On the second day of the four-day Uganda gorillas and golden monkey trekking safari, you wake up early in the morning and be served with delicious breakfast. You will bring a packed lunch from the lodge and meet with your driver guide to proceed to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. This will happen after an early breakfast. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of eight, with each group being assigned a habituated gorilla family to hike and a park guide who is familiar with the routes for going in search of gorillas. Because mountain gorillas like to roam from one spot to another in quest of food, gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can take anything from 30 minutes to 7 hours.

You can witness a variety of bird species, diverse plant and tree types, forest elephants, buffaloes, duikers, chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and other wildlife species while trekking. Once the mountain gorillas have been located, you will be given an hour to spend with them in their natural environment. During this time, you will have the chance to observe their habits, lifestyle, and behaviors as well as watch them feed, play, breastfeed, and groom young ones. You will also have the chance to take pictures and videos to share with others once the safari is over. Once you’ve spent an interesting hour with the mountain gorillas, you’ll trek back to the park’s main office, where you’ll receive a certificate for taking part in the gorilla trekking experience. Then, you’ll meet your driver guide to take the shuttle back to the lodge for the evening’s leisure, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park. 

On the third day of the four-day safari to see gorillas and golden monkeys in Uganda, you’ll have an early breakfast before leaving the lodge and travelling to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where you’ll receive a briefing on the guidelines to follow when golden monkey trekking. After the briefing, an experienced park guide will be assigned to you, and you will begin trekking into the jungle in search of the golden monkeys, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on where they are located because they prefer to roam about in quest of food. When golden monkeys are found, you are allowed to spend an hour with them in their natural habitat, giving you the chance to learn about their behaviors, watch them feed, play, jump up in trees, take pictures of them, and record videos. During golden monkey trekking, you will also be able to see other primate species, various birds, plants, and more. You will go back to the beginning after your one-hour encounter with the golden monkeys, where you will meet your driver guide and be driven to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you can choose to relax at the lodge or have a boat safari on Lake Mutanda, where you can take in stunning vistas of the Virunga Mountains, lovely landscapes, and a variety of aquatic bird species, among other things. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight after the boat tour.

Day 4: Departure to Kampala. 

On the final day of your 4-day gorilla and golden monkey trekking safari in Uganda, you’ll wake up early in the morning and be served with breakfast, then check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide to take you back to Kampala. You will stop for lunch en route and experience stunning views of the Kigezi hills, traditional homesteads, and stunning scenery before arriving in Kampala in the early evening. When you arrive, your driver-guide will either drop you off at the Entebbe International Airport in time for your flight out or at a convenient location.
