On this 5 Days Kibale & Bwindi trekking safari  you will experience the best of primate’s safari as you monitor chimpanzees in Kibale National Park and then gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Detailed itinerary.

 

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale national Park.

On the first day of the 5 days Kibale and Bwindi trekking safaris. Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be met by a representative of our company and a driver/guide, welcome you and brief you about the 5 days Kibale and Bwindi trekking safaris, and from there transfer you to Kibale forest with the stunning views of the natural landscape, heading west past Mityana town with a lunch halt in Fort Portal town. Proceed to the Kibale forest, arriving late in the day. Check in your lodge, evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park.

On the second day of the 5 days Kibale and Bwindi trekking safaris. Get up early in the morning and take a leisurely breakfast. After breakfast, meet with your safari guide and take you to the park headquarters for a briefing and then proceed to Kanyanchu to monitor chimpanzees. This could take a half-day. There are primates such as golden monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and pottos in the region that you will spot while looking for the chimpanzees. Other animals include forest elephants distinct from the common species, gigantic forest pigs, and a remarkable tree species. After finding the chimpanzees you will be given one hour to be in their presence while watching and identifying their characters, watching them play, groom, taking pictures and recording videos. And after that one hour you will return back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, join a guided nature walk through the Bigodi swamp sanctuary, an excellent location for birdwatchers. The Great Blue Turaco and Papyrus Gonolek are readily distinguishable from the other 137 species of birds. There are also numerous species of butterflies. Later, return to the lodge for dinner, evening relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park.

On the third day of the 5 days Kibale and Bwindi trekking safaris. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast. After breakfast, depart for Bwindi impenetrable forest, the gorillas’ home, travelling through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. Continue to Bwindi, with the impressing natural views on the way, you will stop for lunch along the way; arrive in the afternoon. After arriving you will check in, evening relaxation, dinner and the night over stay.

Day 4: Mountain gorilla trekking.

On the fourth day of the 5 days Kibale and Bwindi trekking safaris. Get up early in the morning and enjoy your hearty breakfast. Meet your safari guide with your packed lunch to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during the gorilla trekking.  After briefing you will be grouped into different groups of 8 members and be given an armed ranger that is experienced with the trekking trails, the activity takes approximately 2-8 hours of trekking regarding to the location of gorillas while watching the beautiful biodiversity in the forest, you will spend one hour with the gorillas and finding them where you will be in their presence watching them making nests, feeding, taking their pictures, recording their videos. After one hour you go back to the starting point to get your gorilla trekking certificates.

 If you are still feeling robust, take a short nature walk to the nearby Batwa community. Check out the curio businesses, as well as the children’s school. If you are a nature enthusiast, you can also attempt the Munyanja river trail, where you can observe a variety of birds and butterflies. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as described previously.

Day 5: Back to Kampala. 

On the fifth day of the 5 days Kibale and Bwindi trekking safaris. Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast as you conclude your 5 Days Kibale & Bwindi trekking safaris and transfer back to Kampala, stopping for lunch in Mbarara and photography at the equator, if desired. This gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking excursion concludes with your transfer to Entebbe airport for your flight home.
