Detailed itinerary.Â
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park.
 On the first day of 5 days mountain gorillas, lowland gorillas and Dian Fossey. Your tour guide will meet you at your Kigali hotel or Kigali International Airport, give you a briefing on your safari, you can decide to carry out Kigali city tour through visiting various sites in Kigali city, and after the city tour you can have lunch and then drive you to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way you will sight the stunning views of the land of thousand hills, upon your arrival you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking.Â
On the second day of 5 days mountain gorillas, lowland gorillas and Dian Fossey. Wake up early in the morning and be served with breakfast. After breakfast in the early morning, you will meet with your safari guide and drive you to the park headquarters, Volcanoes National Park for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking, after the briefing you will be grouped in various groups of 8 people per group together with the park ranger who is familiar with the park trails that will aid you to look for the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is a fascinating activity that might take thirty minutes to six hours as these creatures keep on moving in various parts of the park to look for food. So trekkers must be in good physical shape because the jungles occasionally be muddy and rugged. Once the gorillas are found you can spend one hour in the presence of gorillas while watching them feed, play, breastfeed, taking their pictures, and recording their videos and among others. After one hour you can go back to your lodge for lunch, and some relaxation. After you can do some evening walk around the lodge, to view the scenery of the area, sighting various bird species and among others. After the walk you can go back to your lodge for dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bukavu – DR Congo.Â
On the third day of 5 days mountain gorillas, lowland gorillas and Dian Fossey. Get up early, have breakfast at your lodge, then drive to Cyangugu border with your tour guide to enter the DR Congo. After Kigali, the second largest city in Rwanda, you will stop in Butare for lunch before visiting the national museum, king’s palace, and among other places, you will be viewing Lake Kivu the largest lake in Rwanda. You will later reach in the evening and check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Lowland Gorilla Trekking.
On the fourth day of 5 days mountain gorillas, lowland gorillas and Dian Fossey. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast, after breakfast together with your packed lunch meet with your safari guide and be taken to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park. After the briefing you will be grouped and be given a ranger to explore the jungles of the park to look for the gorillas. The activity takes a period of thirty minutes to six hours. Once the gorillas are found you will be given one hour in their presence while watching them feed, play, breast and among others taking their pictures and recording their videos. After one hour of trekking, you will go back to your lodge and travel through Ruhengeri, passing over the border with Cyangugu, and reaching there in the late afternoon for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Dian Fossey Trekking & Transfer to Kigali.Â
On the fifth day of 5 days mountain gorillas, lowland gorillas and Dian Fossey. You will have early morning breakfast with packed lunch and drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing and set out for Dian Fossey trekking. It takes place over a more difficult terrain than gorilla trekking and lasts for roughly 8 hours with incredible views of biodiversity along the way. After the activity return to Muhabura to change before continuing on to Kigali, where you will arrive that evening. Delivered to the airport for your hotel.Â
