Detailed itinerary of the safari.
Day 1: Kigali city tour.
On the first day of the safari you will be picked from Kigali international airport or in your hotel in Kigali, upon your arrival by a safari driver from Primate Tours, from the airport you will go for a city tours exploring Gisozi genocide memorial site to learn more about the massive killing of 1994 Rwanda genocide. Along with visiting the Kimironko local market and “palace,” you will have dinner and spend the night in the city.
Day 2: Transfer to Goma Congo and Mount Nyirangongo hike.
On the 2nd of the safari you will have breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, connect with your safari driver and head for Cyangugu border (border of Rwanda and Democratic republic of Congo) to Goma and branch off to Kibatsi village which is a starting point for hiking Mount Nyirangongo. After lunch, you will receive a hiking briefing, hire porters, and begin your ascent of Mount Nyirangongo. Depending on the hikers’ physical stamina and ability, the ascent should take four to six hours. When you accomplish the summit of the volcano you will have dinner and spend the night in the cabins.
Day 3: Descend and transfer to volcanoes national park.
On the 3rd of the safari you will have breakfast at the cabin and then go down the volcano, from the foothills of the Nyirangongo volcano you will set off for a drive back to Kigali where you are to arrive at around 3 pm. After a late lunch, you will drive for two to three hours to Volcanoes National Park, which is home to ten habituated gorilla families and is well-known for its mountain gorilla population. Once you get at the park, you will check into your lodge and spend the evening and night there eating dinner.
Day 4: mountain gorilla trekking experience.
On the 4th day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for a hearty  breakfast and by 6 you will drive to the park’s headquarters for briefing where rules and regulation to adhere to will be read to you, out of 12 mountain gorilla groups you will be assigned one gorilla group to trek. It takes roughly thirty minutes to five hours to trek down mountain gorillas in their family, so with your packed lunch and start into the forests at precisely 7:00 am. This is a strenuous but incredible and unforgettable excursion, with stunning views along the way. According mountain gorilla rules and regulation you are to spend only one hour with the mountain gorillas and in this hour you will discover more about mountain gorillas and their playful tendencies, take pictures which will make a worthy moment for you as trekkers. You will return to the park headquarters after an hour, where you can either drive back to the lodge for some downtime or take an optional village visit.  You will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 5: Iby’wacu cultural village tour and transfer back to Kigali.
On the 5th and last day of the safari you will wake for morning breakfast checkout of your lodge and go for Iby’wacu cultural village tour in Musaze, Iby’Iwacu cultural village displays different cultural customs of Rwandese people, their lifestyle, traditional dances, cultural dressings, local meals, local herbs and many more. From the cultural village you are going to set off for Kigali after arriving in Kigali you will have lunch and the be dropped off either at the hotel or at the airport for your depart flight back home.
