6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari is wildlife action filled safari specific to give you a safari visit to Maasai Mara national reserve located in Kenya and Serengeti national park found in Tanzania, these two protected areas hosts some of the largest populations of wildlife on the Africa continent and in the world. The Great Wildebeest Migration takes place in these regions, together as homes to the Big Five (elephants, rhinos, cape buffaloes, leopards, and lions).

This safari starts from Nairobi city of Kenya and ends in the same city.

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara national Reserve.

Detailed itinerary of 6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti safari. 

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara national Reserve.

On the first day of 6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti safari. When your safari officially begins, you will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and driven to the Maasai Mara national reserve. En route, you will stop at two locations: The Great Rift Valley View Point, where you can take stunning pictures of the rift valley and its escarpments, and Narok Town, where you can interact with the locals and buy souvenirs.

After checking in, make your way to the park and arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. After lunch, you’ll proceed to the reserve for an afternoon game drive to explore the boundless plains of Maasai Mara and view wildlife, including lions, leopards, gazelles, and zebras. After the afternoon game drive you will go back to the lodge for dinner, spend the night at your lodge.

Day 2: Full day Maasai Mara.

On the second day of 6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti safari. Get up early in the morning and take breakfast. After a leisurely breakfast, head to the park with your packed lunch in hand to spend the entire day observing wildlife. This will allow you to fully explore the reserve and take in the breathtaking, photogenic orange-tinged sunset.

A wide variety of animals, including Maasai Giraffes, lions, leopards, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topics impala, hartebeests, wildebeests, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos, can be seen as you travel through several wildlife viewing tracks.

The Great Wildebeest Migration, which takes place every year from July to October and involves millions of wildebeests, tens of thousands of zebras, and gazelles migrating north from the Serengeti in search of greener pastures before heading back south in October, takes place in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the second protected area in the Mara ecosystem.  You will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay in the evening.

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti national park.

On the third day of 6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge, meet your safari guide and leave Maasai Mara National Reserve, and make your way to the Serengeti National Park. During the trip, you will have to check in with the authorities at the border with Isebania. You will drive to the Serengeti National Park after passing customs, stopping for lunch on route.

After arriving at the park late in the afternoon, you will go on a game drive before checking into your lodge, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 4: Full day Serengeti.

On the fourth day of 6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast. After breakfast, you will meet your safari guide and go on a full-day game drive through Tanzania’s most gorgeous national park, Serengeti, which is also one of the best destinations in the world to see wildlife. Bring a packed lunch with you. The park is home to a wide variety of species, including the Big Five (cape buffalo, lions, elephants, leopards, and rhino), and also serves as a playground for the yearly migration of wildebeest.

Huge herds of buffalo, elephants, and giraffes, as well as millions of antelopes like Grant’s gazelles, elands, topis, impalas, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and African wild dogs, are just a few of the many species you may see during the full-day game drive. After the long day return back to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to back Maasai Mara national reserve.

On the fifth day of 6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti safari. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast. After breakfast, check out from your lodge and going on a game drive, you will leave the Serengeti National Park and return to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. At the border with Tanzania, you will check in with the authorities and enter Kenya.

You will lunch along the way and with en-route game drive through the plains of Maasai Mara national reserve and seeing a variety of wildlife such as Maasai giraffe, giraffes, gazelles, cheetahs, Africa wild dogs among others without forgetting bird species.

At your lodge, you will check in and have an afternoon of resting, in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6: Departure.

On the last day of 6 days Maasai Mara and Serengeti safari. You will get up early for breakfast and go on an early morning game drive, depending on your flight schedule. After that, you will leave the reserve and start your trip to Nairobi. For your flight back home, you will be dropped off at the airport or at the hotel.
